Kitchen Cabinet Trends 2026: What Fort Worth Homeowners Are Choosing

Shaker cabinets, two-tone finishes, glass fronts, smart storage, and hardware trends. See what Fort Worth kitchens are featuring in 2026.
Cabinets set the tone for your entire kitchen, and they're typically the single biggest line item in a remodel. After designing and installing kitchens across Fort Worth and Parker County for 20-plus years, here are the cabinet trends we're seeing dominate in 2026.
1. Shaker Cabinets Still Rule
The Shaker-style door, a five-piece flat-panel design, remains the overwhelming favorite in Fort Worth. It's clean, timeless, and works in everything from modern farmhouses to transitional kitchens. For a more contemporary look, we're installing slab Shaker (a single flat panel with no frame detail) for a sleeker profile. Expect to pay 10% to 20% more for true Shaker construction over a flat slab door.
2. Two-Tone Cabinetry
Two-tone kitchens, where perimeter cabinets are one color and the island is another, are everywhere in Aledo and Willow Park. A popular combo is white or greige perimeter cabinets with a deep navy, forest green, or even black island. This adds depth and visual interest without committing to bold color throughout the kitchen.
3. Glass Front Cabinets
Glass-front upper cabinets break up a wall of solid doors and let you display nice dishware or glassware. We typically install one or two glass-front cabinets flanking a range hood or above a coffee bar. Seeded or reeded glass adds texture; clear glass is more modern. Interior cabinet lighting makes these displays pop at night.
4. Smart Storage Solutions
Cabinets in 2026 are as much about function as form. Popular smart storage includes pull-out pantry shelves, deep drawer bases near the range for pots and pans, blind-corner pull-outs (no more crawling into the corner cabinet), appliance garages to hide the toaster and coffee maker, and integrated trash and recycling pull-outs. These organizers add $200 to $800 per cabinet but dramatically improve daily function.
5. Hardware Trends
Matte black and brushed brass (champagne bronze) hardware are the dominant finishes in 2026 Fort Worth kitchens. Slim, integrated pulls and finger pulls are replacing bulky knobs on modern kitchens, while traditional kitchens still favor cup pulls and knobs. We're seeing more kitchens skip upper-cabinet hardware entirely in favor of push-to-open mechanisms for a clean, handle-less look.
6. Material and Construction Options
Stock cabinets are pre-manufactured in standard sizes (typically 3-inch increments) and offer the lowest cost at $100 to $300 per linear foot. Semi-custom cabinets allow some sizing flexibility and finish options, running $250 to $600 per linear foot, this is the sweet spot for most Fort Worth remodels. Custom cabinets are built to your exact specifications at $600 to $1,200 per linear foot. Frameless (European-style) construction is gaining popularity for its cleaner look and full-access drawers, while face-frame construction remains common in traditional designs.
7. Cabinet Finishes
Painted cabinets in soft whites, warm greiges, and muted greens and blues lead the market. Stained wood, especially white oak and walnut, is making a strong comeback for homeowners who want warmth and natural grain. For painted cabinets, ask about factory-applied conversion varnish, it's far more durable than field-applied paint and resists chipping and yellowing.
8. Floor-to-Ceiling Cabinetry
In homes with 9-foot or taller ceilings, we're running upper cabinets all the way to the ceiling. This maximizes storage, eliminates the dust-collecting gap above cabinets, and creates a more substantial, custom look. It does add cost and requires a step stool or pull-down shelving for the top row.
9. Integrated Appliances Behind Cabinet Panels
Hiding the refrigerator and dishwasher behind matching cabinet panels creates a seamless, furniture-like look. This is standard in high-end kitchens and increasingly common in mid-range Fort Worth remodels. Expect to pay a premium for panel-ready appliances, but the visual payoff is significant.
10. Open Shelving as an Accent
While full walls of open shelving have cooled off, a single accent shelf of reclaimed wood or floating brackets remains popular above a coffee bar or sink. Use it for items you actually use daily, not as a dust-catching display.
